THE DECLARATION OF
BET-NAHRAIN DEMOCRATIC PARTY

A Declaration by the Representatives of
Bet-Nahrain Democratic Party assembled
November 1, 1976

Since time immemorial, in fact dating back to the fall of Nineveh in 612 BC myriad of movements, organizations and individuals have sprung up on the Assyrian national scene, each with its own peculiar brand of nationalism and its own platform of action, yet all with the purported aim of effecting a national salvation for our beloved but homeless Assyrian nation.

To the extend that these movements or organizations met with success, or failed in their mission, is a matter of record, and we do not presume to pass judgment on them here. Without a doubt nearly all of them had the highest possible ideas and intentions and they exerted a high degree of initiative and stamina, each in accordance with their God-given talents and ingenuity.

It  is our belief, however, that the ultimate reason for the inability of a movement or organization to achieve the highest degree of success in the field of international diplomacy or politics or the attainment of national and human rights for Assyrians is that, heretofore, no movement or organization had adopted the modus operandi of a bona fide and operative  PARTY SYSTEM. It has become evident that in the absence of an explicit ideology, and without the discipline that is imposed on individual members by the structured system of an existing POLITICAL PART SYSTEM, all efforts and struggles for the solution of the Assyrian Dilemma are doomed to failure.

Hence, the need for a POLITICAL PARTY for the Assyrian Nation is an urgent historical imperative.

Mindful of the harsh demands and the rigorous discipline that are exacted by a Party System, and realizing the risks hazards and sacrifices but together with the victories and triumphs that befalls the Party and our Assyrian Nation, patriotic bodies in the State of California, Detroit, Canada, London, Australia and the Middle East, do hereby officially and irrevocably DECLARE the BET-NAHRAIN DEMOCRATIC PARTY (BNDP).  

The justification and scope of operation of BNDP shall be worldwide in nature and shall conform strictly to the provisions of the international Law, the Unite Nation Charter, and the Peaceful Means of attainment of goals.

The ultimate aim of Bet-Nahrain Democratic Party shall be the establishment of an AUTONOMOUS STATE to be the ASSYRIAN HOME in our ancestral land of Bet-Nahrain.

To this end, for the support of this DECLARATION, and with an abiding faith in the Almighty God, we, the aforementioned bodies, "mutually pledge our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor to this Party and to our beloved Assyrian Nation".
